Are people actually watching these shows?

Now I know people always say "If you don’t like it here, then leave." But I do like it here and I think its okay to complain when something is making your country worse. That being said, All these shows that are coming out on VH1 and MTV and even local channels like CW, the ones about what a rich persons life is like, why are people watching them? I see commercials for them no matter what channel I’m watching, and I can’t believe we've become a society who spends time watching this crap. Here's a few you might know: Gossip girl, Privileged, Denise Richards Show, I love New York, I love Money, I love this and that and bull crap, and a million other shows that really require no talent or anything to be the star of. We really have to raise our standards, seriously. I mean do you realize that at a time when people are getting laid off, and banks are closing, everyone I know is trying to save money, and our economy is completely whacked, Brittany Spears little sister is getting paid $1,000,000 to let a magazine take a picture of her kid. She became a millionaire for having a BABY!!!! Meanwhile, the rest of us work as hard as we can, in jobs we can never get ahead in, and remain underpaid, when all we would have done to become rich is be born into a rich family. I mean the girls from that show the Hills or the Laguna Beach show, what the hell did they do?? What were they good at? Anything? No! Their parents were just rich, that’s all, and thanks to that, they get there own show on MTV and get the luxury of not ever having to worry about things like rent, groceries, health insurance. Yea America is a great place to live, but it would be immeasurably better if not for the horrible people in it.
