Was J Edgar Hoover a Patriot or a Traitor in your opinion?

Hoover was a person who held peoples lives in his hands that could bring ruin to their public image. If anything he was a blackmailer who held a high government post, but whose successes were caused by his subordinates, not him. He took a minor government agency and turned it into a respected world wide law enforcement agency that is still important in today's law enforcement world. Yet, as mentioned it was the people wh surrounded him that did it. He was a traitor as a human being, not as a political figure whole dealt the cards anyway he wanted to. He was a little person in a big peoples world.
