Wth is going on with the world?

I am no doom sayer. I found most the 2012 videos on youtube rather fun and entertaining. Surely a good laugh for all. I can not help but tremble the more i see reports of earth quakes and volcano eruptions. This is far from normal in fact if you do the research never in the history of man and i do stress in the history of "MAN" has so many major earthquakes struck so many different countries in so little of a time frame. Haiti,North Korea,India,Japan,Pakistan,and now Chile have all endured earthquakes of 4.8 or larger the last two months. So wtf? Any ideas?
